Mayport Navy Homecomings will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s where I had my first homecoming as a Military wife.

As both a Navy wife and a photographer I understand the significance of homecomings. I know how it feels to be waiting on the dock as the ship pulls in, I know how that first hug feels and I understand how precious the photos can be.

These are photos from my husbands first homecoming in Mayport, Florida. I had been dreaming about this day for four months. Covid changed what homecoming would like like, we weren’t allowed to stand on the pier, we couldn’t gather as wives and family members before to celebrate what we had accomplished. Although much was different much was still the same. Although we where separated by cars and masks we still celebrated our accomplishments. And hugging our loved ones was still the best feeling in the world.

Its a feeling that is hard to describe to people who haven’t experienced it.
