Experiencing your first homecoming at North Island in Coronado! Here are some North Island Homecoming Tips that I have picked up!

North Island Homecoming Tips:

  1. Arrive Early! This is the biggest tip & goes for all homecomings. Homecoming days are always long! And while I know you don’t want to add more time to your homecoming day you also don’t want to add stress or miss it because you are looking for parking or can’t find the squadron or ship! I learned this the hard way! It is better to be relaxed and early, rather than stressed!
  2. Don’t be afraid to ask for help & directions! It is a big base & can be intimidating. Don’t be afraid to ask the guard at the gate for help finding the parking lot or squadron you are looking for. I can’t speak for everyone but I always get a little intimidated when I am on a new base.
  3. Be prepared to park far away! Like most military bases, parking is limited at North Island. So be prepared to have to park a ways away from you homecoming. Typically the squadron or your ombudsman has reserved a parking lot for you but that isn’t always the case. So always allow some extra time just incase.
